Third Eye by zy0rg Third Eye by zy0rg
A tribute to Tool. Or rather to their artwork by Alex Grey. Been a fan of their psychedelic artwork for a long time.

This picture is a raw fractal made in Apophysis 2.09. Initially it ws supposed to be simple, but turned out quite complex - 35 xForms tightly mixed together. Hope you like it :)

Fracking amazing, hard to believe you did this in Apophysis, 2.09 version no less, I would have thought it at was Joel Fabers Image apo if it was an Apo flame at all :D
Awsome job  :deviation: :+fav:

Thanks! :)

Basic formula is quite simple - crackle->radial_blur->linear+scry. The rest is just transforming and distorting this base to give it more realistic look. I've used waves2, julian, spherical and bubble for that purpose.

It's almost unbelievable that this is entirely made in Apo.

Yup, it was entirely made in Apo. Had to use some satanic smartcrop to add shadows & highlights and give it more realistic look though (as realistic as possible for Apo :))...

Thanks for comment! :thanks:

This is by far the most impressive fractal creation I have ever seen out of Apophysis. The sheer level of skill taken to make this is just incomprehensible!

Had to use all my skills to make it look realistic (if this word is applicable for fractals :)).
And I'm quite satisfied with result. Usually (in 98.5% cases) I'm not... :D

Thanks for your comment! :)

I think this is one heck of a piece of art work. Amazed just does not do it. I can almost figure out what you did but I'm a long ways from getting there. Thanks for the inspiration. One day when I'm working and have a computer again. I have a goal. Thanks my friend

Doing the same in photoshop would be much harder. Apophysis is definitely the right tool for making that stuff.
Dunno how Alex Grey made his stuff without Apo. This picture definitely looks like foci or unpolar - Dying

what i meant, was that I thought the you had a base pattern from apophyisis
and then edited it with photshop to make the eyes.
It sure looks hard to do that by hand like Alex,
with apophysis you get the pattern and, now i know, even the details from the formulas.

Getting everything in the right place and which variables to use, in apo that makes it look so great in this.

Keep up the great work

Even before reading the title, looking at the thumbnail I thought 'Tool'. Considering I've been practicing my bass playing Tool songs for a few days now that's not surprising too ;)
Amazingly done - especially with Apophysis, a nice technical challenge to have these continuity, clean cuts and color control!

I've tried practicing drums playing Vicarious. I'd say it was much more challenging than making this picture. :D

You're welcome - I wondered why I missed this in my watch - it was solved quickly...

I still fail to get the rythm for Vicarious... I'm actually practicing Schism, FortySix&2, The Pot - my favorites ;)
